Inspiration:
Our inspiration are the local stores who struggle to sell their farming essentials on a digital platform and the farmers who struggle to find the right farming tool and the ways to use them effectively.
What it does:
It consists of an ecommerce section that provides the farmer with a marketplace where they can buy seeds, fertilizers or other farming essentials. What it does is, it boosts a local seed and farming essentials business by digitalizing their store. It also connects an undergraduate agriculture student who will be the consultant in the site, providing valuable insights to a farmer (mainly beginner-farmers). This has the ability to provide an internship to the Bsc. Ag students as well.
How we built it:
We built it using frontend and backend development. Mainly focusing on frontend and using backend and database on some sections. In frontend, we used html/css and javascript. In backend, we used node.js to create an environment and express.js to act as a server. For database, we used mongo.db for the listing of products and consultants.
Challenges we ran into:
The most frustating challenge we ran into was the github merge conflict where we couldn't merge the files made by our team. After much help from our mentors, we were able to fix this problem. The next challenge was backend development, where we ran into server errors.
Accomplishments that we're proud of:
Considering this as our first hackathon, we are proud that we made a successful running website that helps to solve the problems of local stores as well as farmers and the undergradute agriculture students who are seeking for an intern.
What we learned:
We learned that: Patience is the key, time management is very important and a team must assign the roles in according to the needs of the project.
What's next for Agritial-Farmer's Bestfriend:
To make a fully functionable website that can be implemented in real life. And eventually, launch the website professionally.
