INSPIRATION
The inspiration behind AgriInnovate stems from our background and coming from underserved communities and a deep commitment to addressing the persistent issue of poverty, particularly in underserved and marginalized communities. Recognizing that poverty and food insecurity are intertwined, we sought to create a solution that empowers individuals to break the cycle of poverty through sustainable agricultural practices and entrepreneurial skills.
WHAT IT DOES
The app, Agrinnovate, serves as a comprehensive platform designed to empower individuals in underserved communities through agricultural education and entrepreneurial training. The app offers Agricultural education and training providing practical courses that allow users to start growing their own crops and to apply learnt techniques directly in their own gardens and farms; entrepreneurial and business management skills which will help users make their farms profitable; community and expert connection enabling users to interact, share knowledge and exchange ideas and experiences with peers, experts and industry professionals to foster a supportive learning environment; resources access and funding to assist users with funding, resources and tools to start up their agricultural projects. The app also offers agricultural decision support which offers advanced tools and analytics to support agricultural decision-making. Our systems help farmers optimize their operations, improve crop yields, and make informed decisions based on location and weather conditions.
Africa has enough of land, to bring economic stability but with lack of resources and opportunities in the agricultural sector, it makes it hard for communities and farmers to get into the industry. By bridging this gap with agricultural education and empowerment, we can cultivate not just crops but hope and prosperity. Imagine a future where every plot of land flourishes, not just with food but with economic stability and self-sufficiency. Together, we can turn these fields into a beacon of resilience, ensuring that no community is left behind in the journey toward food security and sustainable growth.
The app aims to empower underserved communities by providing modern agricultural education, market access, and business skills to break the cycle of poverty.
HOW WE BUILT
We're building it using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, NodeJS, and React. We're also making use of API's and socket.io
CHALLENGES WE RAN INTO
Our main challenge was managing our time trying to balance our school and the hackathon. We also faced a challenge with our Geospatial component and with finding the suitable API to make use of for our crop recommendations.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAT WE'RE PROUD OF
Getting through to stage 2 of the hackathon and seeing our app coming to life as we continue working on it.

We learnt thinking on our feet, coming up with unique and creative solutions, team work and time management.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR OUR PRESENTATION
What's next for us is implementing our backend and integrating all our features to make our app fully function as we look forward to stage 3 of the hackathon.
