Inspiration
Our inspiration for the project was to make a engaging but educational game for the audience. We figured that a game like this would teach the player a little bit about agriculture/food.
What it does
Our game allows the user to jump around between platforms to collect "coins" which prompt the user to answer a agricultural/food question. Get it right, and you gain score. Get the question wrong, and you lose score.
How we built it
We built this game by using models for the player, platforms, and "coins". We added 28 different questions about agriculture/food, as well as two different answer choices. We also implemented a scoring system so the player could keep track of how many questions the got right/wrong.
Challenges we ran into
We had trouble implementing the scoring system, and it took a while to iron the kinks out. Once we got it working, however, it turned out to be a good addition to our game.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our game as a whole, as this was our first real project with python. It was very interesting and fun to see how it worked compared to other languages. We are also proud to be able to say that we made a functional game that teaches and entertains.
What we learned
We learned a lot about making the player move, as well as boundaries with the platforms.
What's next for Agriculture Platformer Study
We could add more challenging levels, as well as different types of questions/mini-games. --*************************
