Inspiration

The inspiration behind the Agriculture Empowerment Assistant App came from a deep-seated desire

to uplift the livelihoods of farmers in Kenya. Recognizing the crucial role that agriculture plays in the

country's economy, I set out to create a tool that provides farmers with valuable information to

enhance their practices, increase productivity, and ultimately improve their quality of life.

What it does

It helps farmers improve their productivity, profitability, and sustainability.

1. A crop recommendation system that will suggest the best crops for the farmers based on their

location, soil type, weather, and market demand.

2. A market information system that will show the farmers the current and projected prices, demand,

and supply of various agricultural products.

3. An education and training system that will offer the farmers personalized and interactive learning

content on various topics related to farming, such as pest and disease management, post-harvest

processing, quality standards, and business skills. The system should also allow the farmers to ask

questions and get feedback from AI chatbots or experts.

How we built it

Built it using the AWS Partyrock generative AI.

Challenges I ran into

Making sure most of the farmer's needs may be catered for when requested.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Being able to make this app useful to farmers by providing reliable assistance on their everyday challenges.

What I learned

I delved into the challenges faced by Kenyan farmers, such as unpredictable weather, pest infestations, and market access limitations.

What's next for Agricultural Empowerment Assistant

In the future, I plan to expand the app's reach, add more features, and collaborate with agricultural organizations.
