🌍 Inspiration

We were inspired by the paradox that farmers who grow food are often the ones living in poverty, and yet, billions of tons of edible food go to waste every year. At the same time, NGOs struggle with distribution inefficiencies and lack of transparency in donations. We wanted to build something that not only addresses SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) but also uses cutting-edge technology in a practical, community-driven way.

⚙️ How We Built It

• AI Module: We trained a lightweight computer vision model to analyze crop images uploaded by farmers, providing yield predictions, health detection, and low-cost farming advice.
• Food Redistribution System: Built a geolocation-based matching engine to connect surplus food from restaurants, stores, and households with nearby NGOs and communities.
• Blockchain Layer: Designed a transparent ledger where every donation or food delivery is tracked, ensuring trust and zero corruption.
• Micro-Employment Marketplace: Added a system where underprivileged workers can take up small jobs (deliveries, farm tasks) and get paid instantly through digital wallets.
• Gamification: Created an impact token system rewarding donors and volunteers, with tokens redeemable for perks and recognition.

🚧 Challenges We Faced

1. AI Accuracy: Training a crop health model that works reliably with low-quality images from low-end devices.
2. Blockchain Simplicity: Integrating blockchain transparency while keeping the user experience simple and non-technical.
3. Connectivity Barriers: Designing the app to be offline-friendly for rural areas with poor internet access.
4. Time Constraints: Coordinating AI, blockchain, geolocation, and marketplace features within a hackathon timeframe.

🏆 What We Learned

• The importance of balancing innovation with usability for communities that may not be tech-savvy.
• How to integrate AI + blockchain into a real-world application that directly impacts social good.
• The power of gamification to motivate continuous donor engagement.
• That solving hunger and poverty is not just about food production, but about distribution, trust, and empowerment.

🔢 Impact (Expressed Mathematically)

We model our potential impact as:

\text{Impact Score} = \alpha \cdot F_s + \beta \cdot J_c + \gamma \cdot T_d

Where: • F_s = Number of meals saved from food surplus • J_c = Jobs created for underprivileged workers • T_d = Total donations transparently tracked • \alpha, \beta, \gamma = Weight factors based on SDG priorities

This formula helps us quantify our contribution to SDG 1 and SDG 2.
