Inspiration
I was inspired by the difficulties farmers face in finding buyers, arranging transportation, and getting fair prices for their crops. Farmers, buyers, and transporters often work separately, which creates delays and communication gaps. We wanted to build a simple platform that connects them and makes the farm-to-market process more efficient.
What it does
Agri Connect is a web-based platform that connects farmers, buyers, and transporters. Farmers can list their crops, buyers can browse available produce and contact sellers, and transporters can register their services. The platform also includes weather updates, crop guidance, and basic market-related information.
How we built it
We developed the project using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. HTML was used for the structure of the website, CSS for designing the user interface, and JavaScript for adding interactive features such as login, crop listings, profile management, and local storage for saving user data. The project was built and tested in Visual Studio Code (VS Code) and runs in a web browser.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges was managing different user roles (farmer, buyer, and transporter) within the same platform. We also faced difficulties in handling local data storage, creating a responsive layout, and connecting the different sections of the application smoothly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully created a working prototype that supports multiple user roles and provides a clean and easy-to-use interface. We also integrated useful features such as crop listings, transporter services, weather information, and profile management in a single platform.
What we learned
Through this project, we improved our understanding of front-end web development, JavaScript programming, responsive UI design, and browser-based data storage. We also learned how to plan a real-world application and organize features based on user needs.
What's next for Agri Connect
In the future, we plan to add a real database, secure user authentication, online payments, live market prices, GPS-based transporter tracking, multilingual support, and AI-based crop and price recommendations. These improvements would make the platform more practical and useful for farmers and other users.
