Inspiration

While researching agriculture and food systems, we discovered that one of the major challenges faced by farmers is not always production, but distribution. Many farmers are capable of producing high-quality crops, yet they often struggle to find buyers at the right time and at fair prices. As a result, a significant portion of harvests may go unsold, leading to food waste and financial losses for producers.

This issue is particularly concerning because farmers play a vital role in sustaining food systems and supporting communities. However, despite their importance, many still lack direct access to stable markets and reliable buyers.

At the same time, many MSMEs depend on agricultural and fishery products as raw materials for their businesses. Yet, they often face difficulties finding consistent suppliers that match their needs. We saw an opportunity to bridge this gap by creating a platform that directly connects producers with businesses.

AGREE was created to connect farmers, fishers, and MSMEs in a single ecosystem where supply and demand can meet more efficiently. By helping producers find buyers before or after harvest and enabling businesses to communicate their needs directly, we aim to reduce food waste, improve market access, and strengthen food security.

What It Does

AGREE is a platform designed to connect farmers, fishers, and MSMEs. It allows MSMEs to publish their demand for specific food products, while farmers and fishers can browse those requests and interact directly with potential buyers.

By matching supply with demand, AGREE helps producers find buyers more easily and reduces uncertainty after harvest. Farmers and fishers no longer need to worry as much about whether their products will be sold, while MSMEs gain access to a more reliable source of ingredients and raw materials.

How We Built It

We identified that one of the main causes of food waste is the inefficient distribution of agricultural and fishery products. Many farmers and fishers struggle to find suitable buyers, causing their products to lose value or remain unsold.

To address this issue, we built AGREE as a platform that helps producers discover potential buyers while allowing MSMEs to communicate their specific demands for raw materials. This creates a mutually beneficial ecosystem where farmers and fishers gain better market access, while MSMEs can secure reliable supplies for their businesses.

Our main goal was to simplify the connection between producers and businesses, ensuring that agricultural and fishery products can be distributed more efficiently while reducing waste and strengthening the overall food supply chain.

Challenges We Ran Into

Our biggest challenge was the technical implementation. We initially planned to develop a fully functional Flutter application, but with our limited development experience and the broad scope of AGREE, we realized that completing every feature within the competition timeframe would be challenging.

Although we were able to build some parts of the application, we understood that continuing with coding alone might prevent us from fully expressing our original vision. Therefore, we decided to shift our approach and focus on creating a detailed prototype using Figma.

This decision allowed us to explore our ideas more freely and demonstrate the complete concept, user flow, and experience of AGREE, even though it was not yet a fully developed application. Through this challenge, we learned the importance of adapting our strategy to deliver the best possible representation of our solution.

Accomplishments That We're Proud Of

Despite these challenges, we successfully transformed AGREE into a detailed no-code prototype using Figma. This shift allowed us to focus on refining the platform's features, user experience, and overall ecosystem rather than being limited by technical constraints.

We are proud that we were able to clearly communicate our vision and create a prototype that demonstrates how AGREE could support farmers, fishers, and MSMEs in the future.

What We Learned

This project taught us that what initially seems like the best path is not always the most effective one. Sometimes, choosing an alternative approach can lead to better results.

We learned the importance of adaptability, teamwork, and confidence when facing obstacles. Rather than forcing a solution that was beyond our current capabilities, we adjusted our strategy and focused on delivering the strongest version of our idea.

What's Next for AGREE

In the future, we hope to further develop AGREE's AI-powered features to better support farmers and fishers. This includes more advanced recommendations for crop health, disease prevention, sustainable farming practices, and aquaculture management.

We also envision features that encourage environmental sustainability, such as responsible fishing guidelines and recommendations that help maintain marine ecosystems.

For MSMEs, we plan to introduce predictive analytics that can help identify strategic business locations, optimize operational costs, and improve profitability.

Finally, we aim to continuously improve the platform's UI/UX based on user feedback, ensuring that AGREE remains accessible, practical, and beneficial for local communities while contributing to a stronger and more resilient food ecosystem.
