InspiratiThe inspiration behind our project came from one of our teachers, who introduced us to the challenges faced by farmers and the difficulties they encounter in connecting with the right buyers and accessing better market opportunities.
That conversation made us realise that while technology has transformed almost every industry, agricultural trade still has significant gaps. Farmers often struggle to find reliable buyers, get competitive prices and reach wider markets, while buyers face challenges in sourcing quality agricultural products efficiently.
As a team, we had always wanted to build something meaningful for the farming community rather than creating technology just for the sake of innovation.
This idea gave us an opportunity to combine both our interests: technology and social impact.
We decided to build an AI-powered global agricultural marketplace that connects farmers, buyers, vendors and agricultural suppliers on a single platform.
Our vision is simple: to use technology not just to make trade easier, but to create better opportunities for the people who feed the world.
What it does
AGNX is an AI-powered agricultural commerce platform where anyone involved in the agricultural ecosystem can buy or sell products.
From fresh agricultural produce such as tomatoes, wheat, rice, and vegetables to seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and farming equipment, AGNX aims to bring agricultural trade into one accessible digital ecosystem.
Key features include:
Product Marketplace: Sellers can list products with quantity, price, quality, location, and images.
Smart Buyer-Seller Matching: Helps connect sellers with relevant buyers based on their requirements.
AI-Powered Search: Users can discover products using natural language.
Price Intelligence: Helps users understand competitive pricing and market trends.
Trade Negotiation: Enables buyers and sellers to communicate and negotiate offers.
Order and Payment Management: Supports a structured trading experience
How we built it
We developed AGNX using Python and a modular application architecture.
Our technology stack includes:
Python for backend logic and application development.
Streamlit for the interactive user interface.
NVIDIA Nemotron through Nebius Token Factory for AI-powered intelligence.
Government agricultural market data (AGMARKNET/OGD) for market information.
Dedicated modules for data loading, calculations, AI agents, and marketplace operations.
A payment integration layer designed to support secure transactions.
We designed the AI layer to assist with natural-language queries, product discovery, buyer-seller matching, and market intelligence, while keeping calculations and transactional logic within dedicated backend modules.
Challenges we ran into
Building AGNX came with several challenges:
Understanding the complexity of agricultural trading and the different requirements of farmers and buyers.
Designing a marketplace that could support multiple categories of agricultural products.
Integrating external market data into a unified platform.
Connecting AI capabilities with backend services and structured data.
Designing a system that could eventually scale across different regions and agricultural markets.
Managing API configuration, dependencies, and third-party integrations.
Each challenge helped us understand the importance of building technology around real-world user needs.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Turning a real-world problem into a technology-driven solution.
Developing a unified marketplace concept for the agricultural ecosystem.
Building a modular application with dedicated backend components.
Exploring the use of NVIDIA AI technology to make agricultural commerce more intelligent.
Creating a platform with the potential to connect farmers and buyers beyond geographical boundaries.
What we learned
Through AGNX, we learned that building a meaningful product requires more than writing code.
We learned how to think about real-world problems, design user-focused solutions, work with APIs, structure backend systems, integrate AI into applications, and collaborate as a team.
Most importantly, we learned that technology has the greatest impact when it solves problems that genuinely matter.
What's next for AGNX
Our vision for AGNX goes beyond creating another e-commerce platform.
We want to evolve it into a global agricultural commerce ecosystem featuring:
AI-powered demand and supply prediction.
Intelligent buyer-seller recommendations.
Multilingual AI assistance for farmers.
Agricultural quality assessment using computer vision.
Logistics and transportation integration.
Secure digital transactions and transparent trade records.
Expansion across international agricultural markets.
Our ultimate goal is to make agricultural trade more accessible, intelligent, transparent, and opportunity-driven.
