Inspiration
To begin, the problem we’re tackling is students navigating the UC Davis campus. Due to COVID-19, a large population of students, including transfers and 2nd years, are unable to access campus and familiarize themselves with campus buildings. As a result, students resort to clunky and inconvenient methods to find their classes. From our research, we found that students felt Google Maps doesn’t provide the customizability and often resort to using various applications.
What it does
AggieMap helps you to navigate to specific classroom, import schedule, and set up notification features to remind you when you should
How we built it
Using React front-end to build a mobile view application to help student navigating to classes.
Challenges we ran into
Setting up database to transfer data between pages more efficiently and easily.
What we learned
HTML, CSS, JVscript, React, Oauth
What's next for Aggie Map
For future implementation, we’d like to add a lecture hall map since we found that UC Davis students’ biggest issue is feeling overwhelmed from not finding the courses. Future iterations would also include report barriers, showing classroom number when student reaches their destination.
