Inspiration:
We were inspired by the retro theme of this year's HowdyHack, and wanted to make a fun, relaxing project that everyone can enjoy.
What it does:
The Aggie Diner is a relaxing restaurant simulator, providing patrons a chance to enjoy music and milkshakes (only digital unfortunately). It has a sophisticated menu system, allowing the orders placed by real customers to actually be made in the kitchen.
How we built it:
We built this program using primarily html, css, and javaScript. We also incorporated a database to store custom milkshake orders which then sends them over to the kitchen to be made.
Challenges we ran into:
As with any such endeavor, there were many challenges, both large and small. The most significant challenges, however were in designing the look of the Aggie Diner, and in constructing the ordering system. The firebase database was particularly difficult to manage, as none of us had any experience with such a complicated and nuanced system.
Accomplishments that we're proud of:
As per the last question, we are particularly proud of the ordering system we constructed, as there were many times that we believed we would be unable to finish it. In the end however, I daresay we ended up with a very good final product.
What we learned:
Throughout the time we have spent working on it, we have learned to collaborate on a larger-scale, harnessing our individual strengths to take the project to new heights.
What's next for Aggie Diner:
When given the chance, we would like to expand the game further to encompass typical diner foods such as burgers and fries- all Aggie themed too! Also, perhaps add further animation, and a currency system.
