Inspiration

We were inspired by our own struggles with managing busy schedules, and watching the adults around us struggle with the same problem. We wanted to make an app that would combat this issue by making it easier for students to schedule appointments with their adult counterparts.

What it does

agenZda is an app that lets users log in to their profile, create a time that they are available, and view their mutuals' available times. Users first log in, bringing them to their "friends" page where other profiles are visible. They can view their own schedule or book appointments with their "friends".

How we built it

We built the frontend with Kivy and the backend with Python. We are both unfamiliar with Kivy and Python so we had to watch many tutorials and read a lot of Stack Overflow posts :)

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a few challenges, most stemming from our inexperience with Kivy and Python. Because of this, we heavily relied on online resources, which restricted our app designs. In the end, we decided to create a more straightforward app for the hackathon; however, we plan to improve it further after the fact to allow for more functionality.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the simple, easy-to-follow design of our app. Especially where we are both relatively new to hackathons, we are proud that we created an app that we could actually use day-to-day. Through this challenge, we gained invaluable experience to take us further than just this weekend.

What we learned

We were able to experiment with both Kivy and Python, as well as experience real-world application of our code.

What's next for agenZda

After the hackathon, we are planning to expand the app into a more concrete scheduling app that fulfills our needs. Some of the key points of improvement are to add a system where users can search for their friends and follow them. Another is to see a physical image of a calendar to select a date, and then see available times. This hackathon kick-started us to create some of the basics to agenZda, but moving forward, we will continue to work on the app in order to fully support users and make all of our lives easier.
