Inspiration and Journey
1. Inspiration
In 2022, I had to relocate with my family to a new country. We faced many challenges, and the most significant one was the language barrier and adapting to a completely new environment. It took us a lot of time and energy to understand the local rules, get our kids into kindergarten and school, and figure out how to build a social and active life again.
Translators—especially Google Translate—became our daily companions. But in November 2022, everything changed with the release of ChatGPT. It was a real breakthrough that made many things easier and faster.
One morning, my wife asked me to get fresh croissants for breakfast. I walked to a small nearby bakery I had only found thanks to Google Maps. It turned out they only bake croissants on weekends, and I had to explain myself in a language I didn’t speak well yet. That’s when the idea hit me: how amazing it would be to stay at home and ask in my own language whether this bakery sells croissants on weekdays or only on weekends.
That’s how Agent Map was born. Now, local business owners can easily upload a simple text file describing their services and specials, and users can discover that information simply by asking ChatGPTs (Agent Map | AI Search Engine) in their native language.
Agent Map bridges the gap between small local businesses and people who face language or geographic barriers. It’s a tool to make everyday life and adaptation easier—especially for newcomers and travelers. And it also streamlines and enhances the search and booking process for local services.
2. My Journey with Bolt
I was genuinely surprised at how fast and easy it is nowadays to build not just landing pages, but fully functional platforms. With the combination of Bolt, Netlify, and Supabase, I was able to bring my idea to life quickly. It was my first time using these technologies, but with over 10 years of experience in programming, I got the hang of it fast.
That said, without programming knowledge, managing everything would have been difficult. I often had to rephrase prompts, test multiple variants, and even manually fix the code. For example, Bolt didn’t always handle responsive layout correctly, so I had to instruct it how to behave before and after the md breakpoint. Or suggest manually to use a routing library.
Still, the UX and UI Bolt generated were impressive—it sometimes predicted what I needed before I even realized it. As long as the logic stayed relatively simple, everything worked great.
However, on one page I began adding more and more features and data. Eventually, one frontend file grew to 1,276 lines. The number of database requests became excessive, and I received a memory warning from Bolt, along with a caution about possible "hallucinations." That’s when I started refactoring and moving some logic to Supabase RPC, but then Bolt began losing features and restructuring the page in undesired ways.
This showed me that while the tool is powerful, it's best used with focus and intention when the logic gets complex. Overall, I’m very proud of building Agent Map in such a short time.
What's Next for Agent Map
- Connect with the public and gather feedback to improve the platform
- Expand the implementation of AI agents in local businesses
- Simplify access to AI agents at physical locations via branded QR codes
- Improve user trust and perception of interacting with AI-powered assistants in real-world settings
Final Thoughts
Agent Map is not just a project. It’s a reflection of my personal journey, my adaptation experience, and my desire to make technology more accessible and human-centered.
This hackathon proved how quickly one person can go from idea to a working product—especially when tools work in harmony with imagination.
Huge thanks to the teams behind Bolt, Supabase, Netlify, and the hackathon organizers — you create tools that genuinely make lives better. You're amazing! 🚀
