Inspiration

Long-running coding agents are useful, but constantly checking terminals and editors breaks focus. Agent Island makes agent state glanceable and notifies you when a run finishes or needs input.

What it does

  • Shows live Claude Code, Codex, Grok, Antigravity, and Cursor session state
  • Distinguishes running, stalled, finished, and your-turn states
  • Surfaces status from the macOS notch/menu bar or Windows tray
  • Keeps session monitoring and usage or cost estimates local; no Agent Island account or product telemetry
  • Ships free under the MIT License

What changed in v2.1.2

  • Cursor is now a full provider with live session state and your-turn alarms
  • Grok, Antigravity, and Cursor gain real-time file watching and usage or cost estimates
  • Windows reaches five-provider parity with macOS
  • Auto-resume was removed so visibility remains separate from execution authority
  • The app icon and package branding use the current five-blade mark

How it was built

The macOS app is a native SwiftUI/AppKit application. The Windows companion is a native WPF application. Both are developed in the open with release artifacts, documentation, tests, and contribution guides in the public repository.

Challenges

The central challenge is translating changing local session evidence into reliable, low-noise states without uploading private coding-session data. The project also has to keep behavior honest across two operating systems and five provider formats.
