Inspiration
We were inspired by our daily lives, where ageism is slowly becoming more prominent. Many companies would specify the age range as part of their hiring requirements or even reject those promising candidates just because of their age. This would be damaging in the long term as it may cause a higher unemployment rate in the country.
What it does
AGEless is a responsive website that focuses primarily on educating people about what ageism is, its impact on the world, as well as how to mitigate it. It will have a live practice feature that allows users to practice in real-life scenarios, which will allow them to become acclimated to not practising ageism in the real world. The chatbot will generate a real-life scenario and ask the user some questions, and after the user has answered it, the chatbot will analyze their responses and respond accordingly. Users can also take the ageism test to find out whether they have practised age bias either subconsciously or not, and how to mitigate it.
How we built it
Our team has used Figma to develop this website.
Challenges we ran into
There were some time constraints due to the lack of time as our team had joined the ideathon late. However, we have managed to overcome it by having timely discussions and good time management.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As a team, we are proud that we were able to manage our time wisely in a short period of time, given that we have joined the competition late and that our new semester has started. Not only that, but the ability for us to use Flows in Figma for the first time and be able to carry out a smooth presentation is another accomplishment for us, too!
What we learned
By joining this competition, we have decided to challenge ourselves by picking the 'Tackling Biases' theme. Because of this, we were able to broaden our minds on the issue of biases (age, gender, et cetera) in our society. Through the process of using Figma in creating AGEless, we have learned and tried out many new things in Figma, such as Flows, Frames, and the Presentation feature. This allows us to be able to improve our Figma skills and catalyse motivation to be more creative.
What's next for AGEless
AGEless strives to move forward by increasing the difficulty of the set of questions to allow users to understand themselves in harder real-life situations. We would also wish to further train the Large Language Model (LLM) used for AGEless for it to be able to come up with better, harder, and interesting scenarios for users to practice with.
