Inspiration

2 weeks ago I was talking to an international student I met at a local tech event and I asked about what his plans were after he's done with his degree, if he was planning on staying here or going back to his home country. We went on to talk about how he was uncertain about what exactly to do as he was an only child and wanted to be there for his parents in their old age.

Later we watched __. A movie about a husband waking up everyday having to explain to his wife about how they met, and how they are now married and in love, and they're expecting a child. And every day like clockwork she cries, he consoles her.

Those two events greatly inspired this project and problem it aims to solve.

What it does

Dementia is a __ that takes a lot out of not only the patient but the people around them. Many often have to put their lives on hold and/or live in a constant state of distress wondering if their spouse, mom or dad that have such a monitor-intensive? __ are ok or if they need assistance.

Aegis- a platform build for the loved ones/ caregivers of dementia patients. It helps loved ones monitor the people they care for and ensure that they are doing well. It allows them to communicate and see them whenever they wish and for times they are busy with other responsibilities the platform allows them to get a detailed analysis of what their loved ones did through out the day, what their moods been like, the activities they did, if they're eating well or have gotten the proper amount of hydration in.

Aegis- also a platform that acts as a companion for the dementia patients. Conversing with them without the irritation/lack of patience/emotional volatility that is usually seen with mental drain it takes on the caretakers of such patients. It has context about the story of the patients lives prior that they might have a hard time remembering(that can be provided from the caretakers dashboard) and can carry out conversations with the patient as their companion if needed.

How we built it

We built this platform mainly using the antigravity IDE and the models that come with it. We also took external assistance of Claude and Z.

Challenges we ran into

During the build a major challenge we faced was with trying to piece together the different components of the project we made into the final application. Through not a major challenge we also spent a considerable amount of time learning of to properly wield and integrate the google ecosystem with out project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the the potential this project has especially considering the about of people who can no doubt benefit from such a platform. A feature we're particularly proud of being able to integrate is the vision analysis proving a breakdown of the patients activities and moods.

What we learned

We learned a lot from making this project. The main one being the DOs and DONTs of collaborating on month long project in a team. In terms of that this was the first for us. We learned how to navigate and use the Gemini ecosystem in our projects.

What's next for Ageis Caregiver

Ageis caregiver is something we would love to take off the ground and make accessible for people to make actual use out of. We are really proud of the prototype we build and believe with a bit more work put into it it can take off and alter a lot of peoples lives.
