Inspiration

I wanted to built something very simple for my second app. I don't even remember what lead to it but somehow i started to wonder if habit trackers could be made reversed. Somehow that sparked the question of "when did i last time do something". I have calender full of tasks i don't do reqularly like change air filters and it's messy to keep track of those non regular tasks.

What it does

WDIL - When Did I Last, tracks things that happen irregularly. You create a task and tap it when you do it. WDIL keeps track of the history and, over time, learns the user's usual rhythm.

Once there is enough history, WDIL can show which tasks are probably due based on that rhythm. Users can also set a fixed interval themselves if they prefer.

The idea is simple. You should not have to remember when you last changed something. WDIL remembers it for you.

How we built it

I used Claude to help me code the app. I chose Flutter so the same codebase could support both iOS and Android from day one.

The goal was deliberately to keep the first version small. I wanted to test the core idea rather than spend months building a huge productivity system around it.

Challenges we ran into

Getting flutter project to testflight and app store is difficult without mac computer but i managed to use codemagic to allow it to happen.

I was bit hesitant to even built this because I'm not even sure if others would like to use something like this. Habit tracker niche is huge and this is not that much spoken of. Also the monetization was bit difficult because the app is so simple that would anyone even pay. I ended up to one time payment.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of very simple design the app has. All buttons are placed with reachability in mind, i like to design from bottom to top. My first app took me months to built but this was made in days.

What we learned

I learned how important it is to keep the scope small and resist the urge to overcomplicate the first version. I also learned that maybe i should focus more of what i want to built rather than is this something people want.

What's next for WDIL - When Did I Last

I'm still decisive if I should keep it fully one person tracker or expand it to allow multiple people manage same tasks. It could then allow families/households to track shared things. But before it i'd like to hear feedback from users.
