What it does

How we built it In addition to providing monitoring and prevention, our product - Ag stockings - is a novel approach to monitoring pressure ulcers (especially diabetic foot ulcers & varicose veins). There is currently a trend among healthcare industries to create beds as a solution for pressure ulcers but these stockings are a novel technique Diabetic foot ulcers are among the most common complications of patients who have diabetes mellitus which is not well controlled. These ulcers are usually in the areas of the foot which encounters repetitive trauma and sensations. Varicose veins are caused by increased blood pressure in the veins. Varicose veins happen in the veins near the surface of the skin (superficial). The blood moves towards the heart by one-way valves in the veins. In the first layer an silicone gel adhesive is then applied on top. The gel can be stuck to and removed from the stockings. In normal circumstances, the person wearing the stocking feels discomfort when it is placed over the skin or the affected area for this reason. The second layer is created by fabric with antimicrobial properties and we will implant the IR sensor by embroidery technology and silver yarns which will cool the skin surface. The LED scatters light over the muscle and the amount of light reflected is detected by the photodiode. This sensor is then connected to a wifi module where we can build a mobile application to monitor the person's blood pressure in the affected area. we can analyze how deep or how shallow the pressure ulcer is, and we can apply electrical muscle stimulation to the alpha region of the skin around the stocking, allowing for a long frequency without pain, and normalizing blood pressure around the area of the pressure ulcer.

Challenges we ran into- on choosing the adhesive material

Accomplishments that we're proud of-we have implant the sensors and we triggers the ems through app , hence we have accomplished all these at the low cost(250 CAD) and with reusable property
