We have two portions to our project: a website and a game. Our website contains information about various natural disasters. The website incorporates links to current events and disasters. It also explains how to prepare for and respond during natural disasters. It then links to our game and discusses who we as a organization are. Our interactive game teaches you how to respond to a wide variety of earthquake situations, ranging from outdoors to an office workplace. It also poses a number of different challenges, depending on the chosen scenario. These include fires, collapsed buildings, and driving during an earthquake. Along the way, the game provides guidance by giving feedback depending on your choices, rewarding correct choices and correcting incorrect choices. With each replay, new information can be gained, as each route in the game poses different scenarios. We hope to educate the public about how to respond to natural disasters. In doing so, we might reduce the costs and casualties of natural disasters. In the future, we hope to make more games that will address other types of disasters besides just earthquakes. We also hope to connect with relief efforts such as Red Cross or USGS to further raise global awareness, and possibly host fundraisers to help provide financial relief for disaster victims.
