Inspiration
Digital content creators across emerging markets face constant challenges aggregating real-time news, analyzing audience sentiment, and engaging viewers across immersive platformsspan_1span_1. AfriPulse AI Hub was inspired by the vision to bridge spatial computing and digital media—bringing AI-driven news analytics and interactive media feeds directly into Meta's VR ecosystemspan_2span_2.
What it does
AfriPulse AI Hub creates a spatial workspace where creators can view, organize, and analyze live media feeds in virtual reality:
- Real-Time News Aggregation: Automatically pulls and organizes trending news, pop culture stories, and sports coverage.
- AI Media Insights: Provides instant audience engagement analytics and automated summarization.
- Spatial UI & Hand Tracking: Allows users to pin virtual newsboards, manipulate widgets, and navigate content seamlessly using intuitive hand gestures.
How we built it
- Spatial Environment: Designed using Unity with the Meta Interaction SDK for hand tracking and spatial navigationspan_3span_3span_4span_4.
- Core AI Integration: Integrated Meta AI services and natural language APIs for instant content classification and trend extraction.
- Frontend & Feeds: Developed custom WebXR/VR panels connected to live RSS, blog, and news API endpointsspan_5span_5.
Challenges we faced
Optimizing high-density text layouts for spatial readability without causing visual fatigue was a key hurdlespan_6span_6. We resolved this by building modular 3D spatial panels with dynamic text scaling and implementing gesture-based zoomingspan_7span_7span_8span_8span_9span_9.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully building a responsive, gesture-controlled VR interface that transforms how digital creators monitor and organize multi-platform content in real timespan_10span_10span_11span_11span_12span_12.
What we learned
