Inspiration

« The African, forgetting his history, tends to turn away from his traditional values by imitating other cultures. » We wondered how to revive the history of Africa to answer this problem.

Immersive technologies would make it possible to create content (AR/VR/MR) on African culture

What it does

Our project proposes to explore VR/AR/MR content related to African culture and art. For creator : To upload these VR/AR/MR contents

How we built it

We designed the project as a web platform. The interface is written in Vuejs with TypeScript syntax, we use A-frame for building and displaying virtual reality experiences (AR/VR/MR content).

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge was the lack of a powerful device to create content (3D and immersive object) and quickly test the interface. But also, at the moment we don't have enough information on historical facts to recreate them.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have succeeded in bringing this idea to life. We sincerely believe that this type of platform (exploiting the potential of immersive technology - AR/VR/MR) could help strengthen the values of African culture and art.

What we learned

We learned to work better as a team. Start from a set of ideas to form a single one. We also learned to create VR/AR/MR content (3D and immersive object) to manipulate them on a web interface.

What's next for AfrikaJungle

The next step for our project is to develop the remaining modules and functionality. We hope, in the very near future, to make the platform more interesting with a full version.

We are thinking of doing much more, for example integrating MR content where the user interacts with the virtual world to learn the history of African cultures, and allow Africans to come together and form one Africa as our logo indicates
