Responsive Web App Library to facilitate the African library Project

Inspiration

There are three major problems in the African continent: 1.Lack of internet access

  1. Lack of tech access
  2. COVID-19 spread I believe these problems make it hard for libraries to operate. Hence this project attempts to provide a free platform for African libraries to connect as well as make it easy for librarians to handle the library operations. The most important aspect is that it can carry out 90% operations without internet access which is a major problem in Africa.

What it does

This project is a responsive web app that can be operated easily on any device. It attempts to resolve the issue of Library organizing and handling hardcopy of book issues forms on both the student as well as the library end. In the student end, the student can determine the location of the books and sort them according to their level. Whereas the librarian end deals with three main things. Firstly, the addition of new books into the existing directory. Secondly, issuing book lending forms which can be easily stored in the portal, and lastly, it builds a strong connection between the libraries by enabling a link through which one library can request or send books to the other library. Hence there are four major benefits of this web app:-

  1. Responsive(operate on any device)
  2. Internet needed for only 10% operations
  3. Reduced paper workload
  4. Reduce unnecessary movement in the library hence limit COVID-19 spread

Accomplishment that I am proud of

I am proud of the fact that I have been able to complete the entire front end in a passage of just one week. I have been able to do this independently and I am really satisfied with how user-friendly and responsive the project is. Lastly, I am 100% sure that this project can be implemented without any major struggle or initial investment.

What I learned

To be honest, this hackathon provided a major opportunity for me to learn the entire front end development whether it is the implementation of cards or designing the navbars, it helped me learn responsive deigning. I am quite confident of React and it increased my interest in web development.

Improvements

I believe I did an amazing work within the time frame given but once the backend is done I am confident that this project will be ready to use
