Inspiration
The inspiration for African Heritage AI came from the desire to preserve and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Africa through modern technology. With 54 diverse countries, Africa has an incredible wealth of stories, wisdom, and cultural content that deserves to be shared globally. The project was built for Abihack, a Pan-African AI Hackathon organized by AlphaYele and Meraky Tech in collaboration with Google, focusing on the themes of "Future of AI x Creativity" and "Future of AI x Entertainment."
What it does
African Heritage AI is a comprehensive web platform that:
- AI Story Generation: Creates unique African folktales and stories using Groq AI, with customizable themes, characters, settings, and age-appropriate content
- Content Discovery: Provides AI-generated recommendations for African movies, books, and music with filtering capabilities
- African Wisdom: Generates traditional African proverbs and cultural facts with explanations
- Interactive African Map: Features an interactive map with detailed information about all 54 African countries. Users can click on any country to view comprehensive details including basic information, economy, culture, languages, geography, and resources
- History Tracking: Saves and manages user-generated content history
- Favorites System: Allows users to save and manage favorite African countries
How we built it
