AfrikaConnect was inspired by our desire to contribute to helping South Africa address its most critical difficulties in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We have watched communities struggling with poverty, inequality, a lack of education, and environmental challenges. We saw the potential for technology to empower individuals and organizations to take action, collaborate, and contribute to long-term development. Our inspiration stems from the notion that local solutions, powered by technology, can help South Africa achieve a more fair and sustainable future.
AfrikaConnect is a platform that offers users personalized sustainability roadmaps, collaborative tools, educational resources, and real-time tracking of progress toward the SDGs. It:
- Connects people and organizations to collaborate on environmental projects.
- Blockchain technology is used to promote openness and accountability when tracking contributions and project outcomes.
- Provides AI-driven suggestions to help people take significant activities based on their location and interests.
- Creates a community hub where people can exchange ideas, develop collaborations, and access a library of educational materials.
We designed AfrikaConnect with a modern technology stack:
- Frontend: React and Shesha framework to create an intuitive and responsive user interface.
- The backend: Uses ASP.Net, Node.js and C# to handle user data, project tracking, and recommendations.
We may ran into issues such as:
Managing resources effectively to complete the project within the given time and constraints.
Accomplishments that we're proud of : Working together as a team to come up with the solution and trying to build it.
Using the Shesha framework to build the shystem.
What we learned: The importance of user-centric design when developing tech-driven solutions for real-world problems.
Navoigating the Shesha framework.
