Inspiration

The idea behind afia mbele comes from the challenge Africa faces in terms of access to healthcare, see one of the major problems is the lack of information regarding healthcare, poverty which denied a higher percentage of Africa access to healthcare, looking into how we can solve that using technology, that is what birth afia mbele your health is our priority

What it does

Afia Mbele(Your health is our priority) is a web application focused on solving problems regarding access to healthcare by the following approach

1. Providing hospital location information to help the public to be aware of available hospital locations where they could get medical healthcare
2. Helps in better doctor-patient coordination and saves time through booking appointments with doctors
3. Gives information on medical healthcare subscriptions and support and how individuals and patients can access it through afia mbele

How we built it

Our solution was built using Python, Django, and Azure PostgreSQL in production, for the backend and Html, and CSS for the frontend

Challenges we ran into

Filling the gap of skills required to approach and solve a certain problem, debugging the code used for building the solution, collaborating skills, and working with Azure DevOps.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Team Brainiacs is so proud of building this solution and making it work, from the planning stage to the building stage, to the hosting and testing of our features within a short period of time.

What we learned

We learned problem-solving skills, communication, time management, conflict management, and collaboration skills during the period of working on our solution.

Afia mbele(Your health is our priority) will be the next biggest solution in Africa, Afia Mbele focuses on the main problem African face in terms of access to healthcare, by providing relevant healthcare information, hospital information, information on how to access insurance and support on healthcare, information on an available hospital in a certain location, emergency support to the patient for immediate matching of Doctor to Patient, afia mbele allowed partnership with the governmental body for the healthcare subscription and insurance. This is considered a critical problem in Africa that this solution is solving.
