PROBLEM THAT AFFLUENCE SOLVES
Affluence has been created because of the necessity of giving persons back what coronavirus has taken: trust. Trust to go out again to enjoy their favourite restaurants, to have a drink with friends or even to go to the museum. So that’s how we started thinking of creating a way that would provide persons the confidence to go out, and finally turned out with this idea.
INSPIRATION
Idea overview
Our idea is to create an APP which has a map with the establishments (as for example bars, museums…) and in each one the number of persons and capacity of each place. Based on this map people will decide where to go to avoid crowds. This will restore their trust as they will have the information to decide what’s better for them.
Value proposition
Affluence is an in real time app so this gives you the possibility to decide where to go and reduce your risk and exposure to this virus. In case the establishment is at its full capacity it will give you similar options. To appear in Affluence app, establishments are required to follow the health measures that the government will establish so it’s a way of ensuring that these measures are being followed. At the same time, we will be promoting small restaurants and bars as every type of establishment has place in our app. The value of our app after this crisis would consist of greater attention to hygiene and reducing crowds in places most frequented by people when they go out for leisure so that a new outbreak of a viral nature does not arise again and so that exposure to similar risks can be better controlled.
WHAT IT DOES
Affluence tracks in real time the number of persons in public and closed places of leisure or entertainment. These places will be marked on a map. Clicking on them will display on real time information as the maximum capacity of the establishment (according to the new measures that the government will establish) and the number of persons actually in it. If the place you want to go to is full you will be able to find one of similar characteristics through the app.
HOW WE BUILT IT
It works in a really easy way. Each establishment that appears in the APP will have a custom QR code that will be hung on their entry. Customers just have to scan these QR codes when going in and out of the places. When a customer scans a QR code a form with two questions will appear on their screens: 1- Are you going in or out? 2- How many people go with you? -including you- (only one person from each group has to do this). Customers answer this survey anonymously and the data is sent to the APP. The app will show the data of each restaurant in form of a map and this way people will have easy access to the currency of each establishment.
The way that restaurants and museums have to access our platform is providing us data to authentify they are their owners, and prove that they follow the measures recommended by the government. Having sent us this information we will send them the QR code along with the name of our App in a methacrylate (or similar) piece so they can hang it up at their entrance door.
AFFLUENCE IMPACT TO THE CRISIS
The impact that we intend to cause with our proposal is to make as many people as possible realize that going out can be done in a really safe way. Using our APP will make possible for users to continue with their social while helping cultural or leisure businesses to reactivate their economy. At the same time, our APP will encourage establishments to follow the sanity measures established by the government because it’s one of the requirements to be part of it.
WHAT WE HAVE DONE DURING THE WEEKEND
Our idea came up the first day the hackathon started. So it’s been built this weekend. As we’re students from entrepreneurial leadership and innovation we had a project that uses NFC so we thought about applying it to give a solution to this Covid crisis. We then realised that not every phone has NFC so we changed it for a QR lector. We’ve had time enough to create the MPV even though it was a great challenge. To do this we have created a web page where we show how the app would work in the most visual way. We also have created a demo available in our web so that anyone can test it. For this demo, we create a QR code that directs testers to a simple form. At the same time, we have been designing the interface of the app to be able to make the video exhibition where we show in a very visual and summarized way its operation.
WHAT WE LEARNED
We’ve learnt that we’re all part of this, every idea and everyone counts in order to find a solution for this crisis. That not every solution is going to be effective for everyone, but a few small solutions can be the key to solve big problems.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR AFFLUENCE
In order to continue with this project we would only need to create the APP with the help of a professional and the support of governments to get the safety certification and marketing campaign even though we have already started creating it.
