Aethra Whale-Safe Navigator

A Smart Way to Protect Whales and Guide Ships Safely

Introduction

Welcome to the Aethra Global Ideathon 2025!
Our project introduces a smart ocean mapping system that tracks whale activity and suggests safer sea routes for ships.
It aims to protect marine life while keeping global trade smooth and efficient.

The Problem – Why Whales Need Help

  • Every year, many whales die from ship collisions.
  • Whales often change their depth and routes, making it hard for ships to detect them.
  • These accidents harm marine biodiversity and disturb the ocean ecosystem.
  • Current navigation tools don’t include whale movement data.

The Solution – Aethra Whale-Safe Navigator

Our system combines real-time data and marine behavior research to guide ships safely.

1. Whale Mapping:
Collects whale location data from reports and tracking sensors.

2. Predictive Modeling:
Uses time, temperature, and known whale habits (like moving closer to the surface at night) to predict their movement.

3. Safe Route Suggestions:
Shows ship captains low-risk paths that avoid whale zones and migratory routes.

Global Impact & Innovation

  • Protects biodiversity: Reduces whale deaths and helps restore ocean balance.
  • Minimizes risk and cost: Prevents accidents and delays in shipping routes.
  • Data-driven insights: Helps governments and conservationists make better marine policies.

This project shows how technology and nature can work together for a safer, smarter ocean future.
