Aethra — Fence and Gate Visualization System

Inspiration

Aethra was inspired by the need to make choosing fences and gates easier and more convenient for customers. Traditional catalogs and product images can make it difficult to visualize how different fence and gate designs would look in a customer's property. We wanted to explore how augmented reality (AR) and QR codes could improve the product selection experience by allowing customers to interact with product information and visualize fence and gate designs more effectively.

What It Does

Aethra is a fence and gate visualization system designed to help customers explore different fence and gate designs through an interactive digital experience. It incorporates AR and QR code functionality to make product discovery more engaging and accessible.

The system aims to help customers browse fence and gate options, access product information, and explore visualization features that support their decision-making when selecting designs for their properties.

How We Built It

We built Aethra through collaboration across full-stack development, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and visual design. Our team worked on developing the application, designing its user interface, and integrating the technologies needed to support its fence and gate product visualization features.

We also worked on deploying the application through Render, addressing production configuration and integration issues along the way.

Our team:

  • Angel Salvador — AR and Machine Learning Engineer: Responsible for AI and machine learning development.
  • James Yuri Avila — Full-Stack Developer: Responsible for application development, system functionality, and frontend and backend integration.
  • Brianna Joy Dagandan — Visual Designer and Web Designer: Responsible for the visual design, website interface, and user experience.

Challenges We Ran Into

One of our biggest challenges was deploying Aethra to production through Render, where we encountered configuration and deployment issues that required troubleshooting. We also faced difficulties integrating AR and QR code functionality into the system, particularly in getting the different components to work together as intended.

Despite these hurdles, we continued working toward our vision of making fence and gate selection more interactive. Through collaboration and iterative problem-solving, we worked to address technical issues and improve the overall application.

Accomplishments That We're Proud Of

We are proud of developing Aethra as an interactive approach to fence and gate product discovery. The project allowed us to explore how AR and QR codes could enhance the way customers browse and visualize fence and gate designs.

We are also proud of our team's collaboration across development, AI and machine learning, and design. Combining our different skill sets helped us bring our ideas together into a unified application focused on a practical need in the fence and gate industry.

What We Learned

Throughout the project, we learned that building a functional application requires more than writing code and designing interfaces. Production deployment can introduce unexpected issues, while integrating AR and QR code functionality requires careful testing, troubleshooting, and coordination.

We also learned the importance of teamwork, clear communication, and adaptability when technical challenges arise. These experiences helped us better understand the complexities of developing and deploying an application that combines product visualization with interactive technologies.

What's Next for Aethra

Moving forward, we aim to improve Aethra's deployment stability, refine its AR visualization and QR code functionality, and enhance its overall usability across devices.

We also plan to improve the way customers explore fence and gate designs, making product information easier to access and visualization more intuitive. Our goal is to continue developing Aethra into a more reliable and engaging platform for discovering and selecting fences and gates.
