Inspiration

I built AetherSpace because I was tired of drowning in browser tabs and feeling completely burned out by standard productivity tools. Juggling multiple projects, references, and tasks online always led to cognitive fatigue, so I wanted to create something that completely re-imagines how we focus and organize our digital lives.

What it does

AetherSpace is an immersive, AI-driven spatial productivity and focus ecosystem. It features:

  • An Infinite Spatial Canvas: A drag-and-drop workspace where I can map out tasks, notes, and web clips visually.
  • Focus Boss Battle Mode: A gamified Pomodoro timer where staying focused damages a virtual productivity monster.
  • AI Companion Sidebar: Specialized virtual co-workers like "The Task Master" that instantly break massive projects down into micro-tasks.
  • Ambient Soundscape Mixer: A custom Web Audio API engine providing background focus sounds like rain and space drones.
  • Productivity Analytics: Comprehensive dashboards tracking focus streaks, task velocity, and daily energy levels to prevent burnout.

How I built it

I built the frontend using React (Vite) and Tailwind CSS, incorporating Framer Motion for smooth, fluid spatial animations and card dragging. For the focus section, I integrated the Web Audio API to generate procedural ambient soundscapes entirely in the browser. State management and local persistence keep all custom tasks, notes, and analytics smoothly stored on-device.

Challenges I ran into

Getting the spatial node dragging and dynamic SVG connecting lines to feel buttery smooth without performance drops was tricky. Balancing state management across the canvas nodes, focus timers, and AI chat sidebars also required careful architecture to keep the app responsive.

What I learned

Building AetherSpace taught me a ton about advanced state management in React, working natively with the Web Audio API for custom sound generation, and designing intuitive, immersive user interfaces that blend gamification with actual utility.

What's next for AetherSpace

Moving forward, I plan to add cloud sync capabilities, more custom themes unlocked through focus battles, and deeper multi-agent AI workflows to make the ecosystem even more powerful.
