Enterprise cloud operations face two major challenges:

  1. Cloud Overspending & Spot Interruption Fears: AWS On-Demand computing costs are up to 70% higher than Spot instances. Engineering teams avoid Spot nodes due to unpredictable 2-minute termination notices that risk state loss and downtime.
  2. Telemetry Alert Fatigue: Silent memory leaks and sudden regional cost spikes demand immediate attention, but manual human triage is too slow to prevent out-of-memory crashes.

We built AetherOps Sentinel as an autonomous, background-first agent based on the Strands Agents SDK to eliminate alert fatigue, persist states, optimize cloud spend, and guarantee zero downtime.

⚙️ What It Does

  • Autonomous Healing & Live Migration: Continuously monitors multi-region telemetry (us-east-1, us-west-2, eu-west-1, ap-southeast-1). It automatically snapshots node state, provisions replacement Spot instances, and shifts DNS traffic within the 2-minute window with 0ms downtime.
  • Financial Arbitrage Engine: Evaluates multi-region pricing deltas to unlock up to 68% compute cost reductions.
  • Blast-Radius & Rollback Guard: Automatically rolls back migrations if target node latency exceeds the 250ms SLA guardrail.
  • 1-Click Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) Cards: Surfaces key architectural and structural decisions to engineering leads via Slack/Discord Block Kit notifications for instant one-tap approval.
  • Interactive Financial Analytics: Features a live multi-region topology canvas, Plotly cost trajectory charts, and one-click JSON/CSV audit report exports.

🛠️ How We Built It

  • Agent Framework: Built on the Strands Agents SDK ReAct loop (Thought -> Action -> Observation -> State Update).
  • Telemetry Ingestion: High-fidelity multi-region simulator tracking memory saturation and AWS Spot eviction signals.
  • Dashboard & Visualization: Streamlit interface with dark glassmorphism styling, Plotly charts, and Slack Block Kit payload renderers.
  • Mitigation Tools: Automated Route 53 weighted routing shifts, EBS snapshot state preservation, and cost-arbitrage calculators.

🧗 Challenges We Ran Into

  • Guaranteeing full state preservation and seamless DNS propagation within the strict 2-minute AWS Spot eviction window.
  • Balancing full background autonomy with human trust, which we resolved using the 1-Click HITL Decision Card mechanism.

🏆 Accomplishments That We're Proud Of

  • Designed a complete autonomous loop achieving 0 dropped packets and zero downtime during node evictions.
  • Delivered full ReAct reasoning visibility in real time.
  • Open-sourced the entire project under the MIT License with comprehensive setup documentation.
