Inspiration
The inspiration for Aether came from a challenge between friends and a shared belief that AI should do more than assist. it should autonomously build and operate real businesses that solve meaningful problems. When the Build with Gemini XPRIZE was announced, we saw the perfect opportunity to push that idea further: create something one-of-a-kind that doesn’t just demo AI capability, but actually generates real-world value with real customers and revenue.
What it does
Aether is an autonomous AI system designed to build, launch, and operate businesses. It handles core functions such as market research, product development, customer acquisition, operations, and decision-making with minimal human intervention. The goal is to create AI-native businesses that can run efficiently and solve real problems at scale.
How we built it
We are building Aether using the Gemini API as the core reasoning engine, combined with Google Cloud services for infrastructure, deployment, and scalability. The system is being developed as a multi-agent architecture where specialized agents collaborate to handle different parts of the business lifecycle. We are focusing on rapid iteration, real customer feedback, and measurable revenue from day one.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest early challenges have been defining the right problem space that can generate real revenue within a short timeframe, designing reliable multi-agent coordination, and balancing autonomy with the need for human oversight. Ensuring the system can operate in production while staying compliant with the challenge requirements has also required careful planning.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of committing to a high-ambition vision and building an AI that doesn’t just assist businesses but actually runs them. Establishing a clear direction, forming a focused team, and aligning the project with real business outcomes rather than pure technical demos has been an important early milestone.
What we learned
We have learned that the most valuable AI applications in this challenge are those that create tangible economic value, not just impressive technical results. Clear scope, fast customer validation, and disciplined execution matter more than complex architecture in the early stages.
What's next for Aether
Next we will finalize the core business use case, ship the first working version of the autonomous agents, acquire our first real customers, and generate measurable revenue before the August 17 deadline. After the challenge, we plan to continue developing Aether into a broader platform for AI-operated businesses.
