Inspiration Existing global social platforms are bloated, heavy on bandwidth, and flood feeds with intrusive ads while neglecting the needs of Gen-Z creators in Tier-2 and Tier-3 India. We built Aesthetic to deliver a fast, lightweight social engine optimized for low-bandwidth networks, low latency, and sovereign data safety.

What it does Aesthetic is a social platform built for India's Gen-Z creators:

Fast Feed: Edge-powered feed retrieval designed for minimal latency.
Media Streaming: Adaptive HLS video streaming optimized for smooth playback even on slower connections.
Clean Experience: Direct content delivery without algorithmic ad friction in main feeds.
Lightweight: Compact 21MB Android app footprint built for efficiency.

How we built it

Frontend: React with Capacitor for Android native app delivery.
Backend Engine: Edge-deployed Cloudflare Workers providing distributed API endpoints.
Database & Auth: Neon Serverless PostgreSQL with Firebase Authentication.
Media Pipeline: HLS video streaming protocols for responsive video playback.

Challenges we ran into

Optimizing database connection pooling and edge worker execution times to keep feed latency low.
Balancing feature complexity while keeping the final Android APK footprint small.

Accomplishments that we are proud of
