Inspiration

Airfare prices in India can change significantly depending on travel dates, routes, demand, and seat availability. These fluctuations make it difficult to understand price trends and measure changes consistently. We built AeroPrice Index to turn scattered airfare search data into structured, meaningful intelligence.

What it does

AeroPrice Index is an airfare intelligence platform focused on India's domestic aviation market. It collects flight-fare data from supported flight-search sources, standardizes the information, and presents route-wise price trends, historical comparisons, forecasts, and anomaly detection. Its long-term goal is to support data-driven airfare monitoring and provide useful inputs for CPI-related research and public policy analysis.

How we built it

We developed a web-based analytics platform with a modern dashboard, backend APIs, structured data processing, and aviation data visualizations. The architecture supports airfare collection, normalization, time-series analysis, forecasting, and anomaly detection. SerpApi can provide structured Google Flights search results where configured and successfully integrated.

Challenges we faced

Airfare data is dynamic, inconsistent across sources, and difficult to collect reliably. We focused on designing a normalized data pipeline, handling missing or changing results, and presenting complex information through understandable visualizations. Another challenge is distinguishing currently available fares from historical observations and forecasted values.

What's next

We aim to improve route coverage, data quality, historical tracking, forecast reliability, and transparent reporting. AeroPrice Index is designed to complement existing statistical collection processes, not replace official CPI calculations or government data sources.
