🧠 Inspiration

Scope 3 emissions make up over 70% of a company’s carbon footprint, yet they’re poorly tracked—often using outdated estimates or supplier surveys. We built Aequus to bridge that gap using AI, enabling real-time, accurate ESG reporting and decision-making.

💡 What does our solution do?

Aequus automates Scope 3 emissions tracking and ESG reporting.
It offers:

• Automated data collection from logistics, procurement, and travel systems
• Carbon conversion using GHG Protocol standards
• Dashboards & ESG reports tailored for product and sustainability teams

⚙️ How we built it

• Figma prototype for dashboards and reporting tools
• Python backend to simulate telemetry data and calculate emissions
• PDF report generator aligned with user selected industry standards (ie. CDP/SEC)

🧱 Challenges we faced

• Scope 3’s complexity forced us to narrow scope to logistics & procurement
• No live data access, so we built realistic proxy datasets
• Navigating inconsistent ESG standards (CDP, CSRD, SEC)

🏆 Accomplishments

• Built a working MVP from data to dashboard to reporting
• Translated emissions data into clear, actionable product insights
• Created a user experience designed for cross-functional ESG adoption

📈 What’s next?

• Add real-time API integrations (Samsara, SAP, Amadeus) and internal data scraping via LLM/AI tools for data collection
• Train models for emissions forecasting & reduction suggestions
• Enable supplier input portals and team-based emissions goals
