Inspiration
Phishing remains one of the most widespread and damaging cyber threats, yet most users lack the technical ability to recognize malicious emails before harm occurs. We were inspired to bridge this gap by creating an intelligent system that protects users automatically — without requiring cybersecurity expertise.
What it does
AegisAI is an AI‑driven email security platform that proactively scans incoming emails in real time, detects phishing threats, classifies risk levels, and takes protective action by isolating high‑risk emails. It enhances user safety while maintaining transparency through instant alerts and recoverable actions.
How we built it
We designed AegisAI as a full‑stack solution combining machine learning with real‑world integrations. A trained ML model powers threat detection, Gmail OAuth enables secure inbox connectivity, and an interactive dashboard visualizes email risk. To extend protection beyond the platform, Twilio SMS alerts notify users instantly whenever a critical threat is detected and handled.
Challenges we ran into
Building AegisAI required balancing automation with user control. Key challenges included secure OAuth integration, ensuring safe real‑time threat handling, implementing recoverable deletion workflows, and deploying a seamless cloud‑based full‑stack system.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a proactive security system that doesn’t just detect threats — it acts on them responsibly while keeping users informed and in control.
What we learned
Through this project, we gained hands‑on experience integrating AI with live APIs, deploying scalable cloud services, and designing security solutions that prioritize both safety and usability.
What's next for AegisAI
We aim to evolve AegisAI into a multi‑layered security assistant by improving detection accuracy, expanding platform coverage, and introducing adaptive threat intelligence.
