Problem

More than 90% of young people between age of 12 and 18 years old _ uses the internet _.

Although information is now widely & easily accessible to anyone who has Internet connection. The unfettered access to websites may lead to an _ overall increase in the numbers of young people seeking out pornographic material _.

Proven by a survey from Youth Internet Safety Survey that 87% youth (14 years & older) are _ looking for sexual images online _.

Current Situation

In Indonesia, the government under the ministry of communication and information technology (KOMINFO) implemented content filtering system called Internet Positif" that designed to _ restrict access to websites with negative or illegal content _.

There's some problem ongoing with Internet Positif:

  1. Blocks some legitimate website by mistake
  2. Allows access to some harmful websites
  3. Can be easily bypassed by tech-saving people

Our Solution

NetWarden, our mission is simple; to protect your child's online world and empower their exploration. With our AI-Powered extension, you can say goodbye to worries about inappropriate content. NetWarden instantly blocks NSFW materials, ensuring a safe digital environment.

How we built it & Challenges we ran into

We built it with a lot of challenges such as deprecated JS library 😖. then some weird web pack behavior makes us change several branches and repo. also, we don't build it from ground zeroes, although there are some private companies that make NSFWJS publicly available. we also go back and forth to StackOverflow which makes the code looks like having their identity crisis

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud that I could survive 3 days with low-quality of sleep. *pls, don't ever snooze your alarm while having a sleepover.

What's next for NetWarden

Maybe we continue to bug fix those integration which are the most half boiled part in our code.
