Inspiration

The inspiration for Advobot stemmed from our commitment to making legal information accessible and understandable to everyone. Recognizing the complexity of legal documents and the challenges the general public faces in interpreting them, we aimed to bridge the gap between intricate legal jargon and layperson understanding. Our goal was to create a centralized, user-friendly platform that simplifies and demystifies legal texts, empowering citizens with the knowledge they need to confidently navigate legal matters. Advobot is our solution to ensuring that legal literacy is accessible to all, breaking down barriers to justice and informed decision-making.

What it does

Advobot revolutionizes the way individuals interact with legal texts. This AI-powered chatbot simplifies and clarifies legal documents, including the constitution of Sri Lanka, making them accessible to the general public. It answers questions, interprets complex legal language, and provides easy-to-understand explanations, effectively bridging the gap between legal professionals and laypeople.

How we built it

Advobot was built using a combination of Python, LlamaIndex, OpenAI, Databricks, and advanced Large Language Models (LLMs). We integrated these technologies to develop a system capable of processing and interpreting legal language. Our development process involved rigorous training of the AI on a wide range of legal documents and the constitution of Sri Lanka to ensure accurate and relevant responses.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was ensuring the accuracy and reliability of Advobot in interpreting legal language, which often involves complex terms. Another challenge was creating a user-friendly interface that could be easily navigated by individuals without legal backgrounds. Ensuring the chatbot remained up-to-date with current laws and regulations also posed a significant challenge.

We are also proud of our technological achievement in integrating various AI technologies to interpret legal texts accurately.

What we learned

Through the development of Advobot, we learned a great deal about the intricacies of legal language and the importance of making legal information accessible to the public. We gained insights into the challenges of processing complex text with AI and the necessity of continuous updates and improvements in AI-driven platforms.

What's next for Advobot

The future for Advobot involves implementing image-based query capabilities, guiding users to specific legal departments as needed, and generating relevant statistics based on user queries. We plan to enhance the chatbot's features, expand its reach to more legal areas, and continuously refine its accuracy and user interface to better serve the public's legal information needs.
