Inspiration
Pre-roll and mid-roll ads interrupt the story. Classic product placement doesn't, but it's baked in once, for everyone, forever: the same soda can in every country, long after the campaign ended. We wanted ads that live inside the shot, fit the viewer, and respect the creator.
What it does
Advision lets a video editor mark surfaces in their footage where a brand may appear (a billboard, a shop sign, a screen) and set the rules: allowed categories, blocked categories, a prominence cap, and optional approval before anything plays.
For each viewer, Qloo's taste graph picks the campaign. A viewer in China sees a chinese poster; a viewer in Bengaluru sees a Kannada Diwali coffee ad. Kids see a library PSA, and ad-free viewers see neutral artwork. Story, timing and actors stay identical for everyone.
How we built it
- Qloo takes the viewer's location and taste signals, plus the scene's mood tags, and returns ranked brands/entities that audience genuinely loves.
- Editor rules filter that ranking. Taste never overrides the editor.
- AI repaints the marked surface, keeping camera motion, lighting, grain and actors unchanged.
- The UI shows Qloo's ranked output, what the rules removed, and the winner, so the decision is transparent.
Challenges
- Making Qloo the real decision-maker, not a lookup table.
- Keeping repainted surfaces consistent across camera motion and lighting.
- Enforcing brand safety for kids and ad-free viewers.
What we learned
Cultural taste data turns personalization from "same language, same ad" into "what this audience would actually love." Guardrails matter as much as the model.

Live repainting at scale, editor dashboards, and brand-side campaign tools.
