Team: Francisco Morales, Julianne Louie, Diya Mehta We approached the Makers Track (Health and Humanity and 5C Community Overlays). Our project transforms volunteering into rewarding adventures. In a world where soup kitchens, retirement homes, and animal shelters struggle to find helping hands, we reimagined volunteering as a gamified quest. Whether serving meals at a shelter or brightening an elderly’s day at a senior center, users embark on “quests” posted by local organizations. By completing them, users earn clothing and accessories to customize their avatars and unlock new paths on their treasure map. We want users to build meaningful connections with communities, such as the elderly, the homeless, and environmental groups.
We used a Next.js app, with React, Typescript, TailwindCSS on the frontend, and Supabase (PostgreSQL) on the backend. We credit Michael Troya’s Next.js Starter Kit.

Adventeer maintains user privacy by keeping personal information secure and following Supabase database policies. We aim to offer opportunities accommodating individuals with varying physical abilities, ensuring equal access to community outreach.

We hope to connect community-oriented individuals with organizations needing volunteers. Participating users are rewarded with accessories and map progress. Future versions will add accessories and expand volunteer networks nationwide.

Users should first log in. After entering an email and password, the user will receive an email confirming their identity. The user can edit their profile and view their XP in the Profile tab. Users can view their unique map by clicking on the Map tab. As the user completes more quests, their position and level increment. The top right indicates the XP necessary to level up. In Create Quest, users can upload a new volunteer opportunity. The Quest tab allows users to view and apply to existing quests based on a description, number of people needed, and XP gained. Users can filter Quests by duration, category, and proximity.
