Inspiration

Before joining this hackathon, I have joined a networking event filled with many talented and high achieving youths of Indonesia, one of them in which turns out to be a GH 6.0 committee, which i found out during registration. Then, it struck me and my teammates, that we can find amazing people through many different communities. But imagine if I hadn't come to the networking event mentioned, or if I hadn't come to GH. I know that i am lucky enough to have the opportunity to do all this. Yet, some things have come to mind, which I've already shared with my teammates, and we've resonated with it.

  1. Many social projects made by these amazing kids barely got noticed, and more so just used by the government as a selection for the national scholarship.
  2. Many students lack the opportunity to learn and grow, even though they have the potential, even the initiatives that most privileged kids don't have.
  3. Learning patterns stuck too much on curriculum and academic subjects, even though sure it is important, but it would be more effective if we could learn through implementation and have it actually roam around society, so that we can give knowledge the power it deserves.
  4. Lack of initiative and competition spirit, which is oftentimes worsened by the limitations which gave them an excuse to always bed rot and doomscroll.

So, we thought, what each of us had experienced regarding what we call initiative. And personally, it was something that came during the toughest times, like something is pressuring you or threatening you to do better, like when u see someone younger than you being the best versions of themselves while you're still stuck in the same place since 3 years ago. Thats when the idea hit. Education's accessibility can increase from the decrease in price or financial burden. Which we usually see when we cant afford a certain thing, for example classes and mentorships. How do we lower the financial burden? Through the lesson itself, especially the person behind the transaction, AKA the speaker. Who would love to speak and mentor others? Those who have a big heart and know they would have fun. That's why we came up with the first solution, GEN Z MENTORING. Not only would the speaker find new networks, achieve certificates, and build their portfolios, but the audience would get that initiative awakening just like the previous situation i mentioned about, and would understand, or at least try to more because of the common perspectives, and the less daunting thought about making a mistake, or basically saying the truth without the idea of elders are always right, which is also another excuse people like to use. The second solution is through the principal; if you want it that bad, you can, which also opens access for those with less fortunate conditions in education. We do this while pursuing them to do something meaningful for society, which is through projects involvement that continues on from the projects scholarship awardees have came up with, so we can keep it alive. By doing this, they'll get an in web currency to buy courses and develop their skills before moving on to the real world. So with all of that, the inspiration mainly comes from mindset shifts and aspects of sustainability. Just like the water cycle, academics, careers, and social impact can go hand in hand without a financial burden. Especially with our platform as a melting pot between institutions, NGOs, and individuals.

What it does:

It facilitates less fortunate youths to have a positive impact on society through the completion of projects to earn a benefit that will help them invest in their personal values through courses, provide a free learning platform that builds a network within youth, by helping the less privileged, encouraging the less initiative, and appreciating their achievements all at once.

How we built it: We built it starting from brainstorming using notion, before managing the tasks through google sheet, which also helped us kepp everything in check, and used figma for the UI before realizing it using reactjs, vite, tensorflow, python, and flask

Challenges we ran into:

Challenges we ran into was the vague idea we had at the beginning which led to some wasted times, as well as difficulty in some AI and backend parts, making sure we do things wisely.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

The idea we had, that didnt come without a fight, the quick bonding and ability to help each other out. But most of all learning what we hadnt before, and being able to reach certain things after multiple tries and efforts.

What we learned:

We learned about different approaches, such as NLP, Improved skills in figma, vsc, etc, and learning how time management and networking is important

What's next for Advanteen:

What's next for us is expansion and efficiency in features, as well as implementation of a gacha game that we have though of, which would guide users to better understand themselves, and the addictive effect that would push them to take part in this learning and social project initiative. Other than that we have also hinted at an internship section that we'll be adding once we have found sponsorships etc. We also plan to expand despite the GH results, because we believe changemaking is winning itself, and just like the motto, identity through innovation, this reflects what we stand for, and i as an NGO's education ambassador, have always waited for this moment, especially connecting with these amazing teammates. This expansion doesn't only mean the web itself, but more so on the community, and expansion in different social platforms so that we can implement soft selling towards building this generation's awareness in education. EX: COC, AOC had people trying their challenges which pushed the potential butterfly effect towards education awareness. We also plan on making different organizations from the core advanteen itself.
