Inspiration
E-commerce businesses generate massive amounts of transactional data every second. Processing this data efficiently to extract meaningful insights is crucial for business growth. I was inspired to build a scalable, lightweight, and automated ETL pipeline to demonstrate how raw transactional logs can be converted into relational database tables seamlessly.
What it does
The Advanced E-Commerce Sales ETL Pipeline automatically:
- Extracts raw sales transaction logs from CSV/JSON sources.
- Transforms the data using Python and Pandas (cleaning null values, normalizing schemas, and calculating derived metrics like total sales revenue).
- Loads the structured output into a high-performance relational SQLite database for SQL analytics.
How I built it
- Python 3: Core programming language.
- Pandas: Data manipulation, schema validation, and dynamic transformations.
- SQLite3: Relational storage for executing SQL analytical queries.
Challenges I ran into
Handling data type inconsistencies and managing missing schema fields dynamically without breaking the pipeline logic.
What I learned
Gained hands-on experience in building robust data engineering workflows, data normalization, and optimizing automated relational database ingestion.
