Adopt-A-Senior
Our grandparents were the primary inspiration for our project. Our grandparents live all alone with only infrequent visits from their caretakers. Because the elderly are labeled as high-risk for contracting COVID-19 , they are unable to go outside very often or run daily errands, causing them to feel an even larger sense of isolation than the rest of the population. A program like Adopt a Senior would be beneficial because it would provide not only living essentials such as groceries and medication to seniors but also a lifelong companion.
We worked with HTML, CSS, and Javascript to create the entire program. Because we were inexperienced with Javascript, one of the hardest tasks was building the symptom checker. We had to do an extensive amount of research on how to create an automated chat room that analyzed the user’s symptoms and displayed results accordingly. We learned strategies for debugging our code and the benefits of using Github to collaborate on projects.
