Inspiration

So many "Dog" coins, but what if you could buy a "dog" coin that helps a real dog? There are around 3 million dogs in shelters in the US, and most of these shelters rely on donations to stay in operation.

What it does

ADOPT lets you by an NFT representation of an actual shelter dog. When you purchase this NFT, a portion of the proceeds will go to the shelter for that animal.

How we built it

There will be a front-end React web app that uses the Petfinder API to get adoptable animal information. A shelter, rescue, or local Humane Society can register, provide their Petfinder account info, and dogs will automatically be added to the list of adoptable dogs.

On the front-end, users can view dogs and pick which one they want to virtually adopt. They will then purchase an NFT for that animal using our Metaplex storefront.

What's next for ADOPT

A future version will allow for auctions of Dog NFTs, or the ability for multiple people to adopt the same dog and sort by popularity. It can also provide rewards to adopters based on how long the animal has been in the shelter to encourage promotion of animals that have been there longer.
