🎯 Inspiration

Students today are drowning in information but starving for actual learning. After COVID, self-learning became the norm, but not in a healthy or effective way. Professors drop 300-page PDFs and expect students to figure it out. Students spend hours reading, watching, and Googling—but walk into exams still unsure if they’ve learned anything.

We built Adhyayan.AI because we realized the real problem isn’t content—it’s clarity, structure, and verified understanding. Students don’t need more information; they need a system to help them actually learn.

💡 What it does

Adhyayan.AI turns any topic or syllabus into an interactive visual learning journey.

It helps students:

  • 📍 See a step-by-step learning path for any subject (like Google Maps for your brain)
  • ✅ Test understanding at every step through smart interactive checks
  • 📊 Track progress across concepts, not just chapters
  • 🔁 Reinforce retention through spaced revision and active learning

🛠️ How we built it

  • Frontend: React.js with TailwindCSS for a fast, clean, and responsive UI
  • Backend: Node.js with Express and MongoDB for flexible subject and user data management
  • AI: GPT-4-turbo and embedding models to break syllabus topics into concept maps, generate custom MCQs, and explain topics in simplified steps
  • Progress tracking: A custom logic engine to update and visualize student mastery based on interactions
  • Hosting: Deployed on Vercel and Render for scalability

🧩 Challenges we ran into

  • Designing a learning journey that adapts to any subject, yet feels structured
  • Avoiding information overload while still giving students rich, AI-powered insights
  • Creating meaningful progress indicators that go beyond "percentage completed"
  • Balancing AI explanations with interactive testing to avoid passive learning
