Inspiration

Our inspiration stemmed from the desire to create a more engaging and efficient method for identifying ADHD in children while providing support through innovative means. Witnessing the challenges faced by parents, coupled with the need for accessible and reliable ADHD detection methods, motivated our team to create a solution that blends technology, psychology, and gamification. We were shocked when we learned that no proper advancement had been made in this field and decided to make a move.

What it does

The project aims to revolutionize ADHD detection and surveillance in children by offering a dual-interface system. One interface involves parents answering targeted questions to assess ADHD symptoms, while the other engages children in enjoyable games designed to gather behavioral data for analysis. Additionally, the platform connects registered psychologists with families, recommending specialists tailored to the child's needs.

How we built it

The process involved extensive research into ADHD symptoms, consultation with child psychology experts, and using machine learning algorithms to analyze collected data. By amalgamating research, expert insights, cutting-edge technology, and ethical considerations, we crafted a robust system that aimed to accurately detect ADHD symptoms in children while providing a user-friendly experience for families and ensuring data security and ethical compliance.

Challenges we ran into

  • Designing Engaging Games: Creating games that effectively captured and evaluated ADHD-related behaviors in children while ensuring they remained entertaining and non-invasive was a significant challenge. for this we consulted psychologists and implemented the age old games in a digital platform.
  • Data Privacy and Security: Implementing robust measures to ensure the confidentiality and security of sensitive information while complying with legal and ethical standards posed a constant challenge. for that we removed any personal information from our server and only stored the unique user id that represents each user.
  • Psychologist Matching Algorithm: Developing an algorithm that accurately paired children's needs with the expertise and availability of psychologists was a complex task.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Successful integration of game-based assessments for children, allowing for non-intrusive and enjoyable data collection. it is the first such tool targeting children.
  • Building a secure and user-friendly platform that respects data privacy while efficiently connecting families with qualified psychologists.
  • Forming partnerships with experts in ADHD research and child psychology to refine our methodologies and enhance the project's efficacy.

What's next for ADHD Detection and Surveillance in Children

Our ultimate goal remains to make a meaningful impact on ADHD detection, support families in need, and contribute to a more informed and empathetic approach to mental health in children.
