Inspiration
Several people suffer from asthma attacks each year. In 2020, nearly 11 people died from Asthma everyday. Due to Asthma attacks being common, our team decided to brainstorm an idea to help asthmatic people feel more comfortable and get the help they need right away in cases where their medicine isn't accessible.
What it does
This app is for people with medical conditions like asthma or heart problems. If the owner of this app has an asthmatic or heart attack, they can press a "HELP" button in the app and notify other peoples around the vicinity that they're having an asthmatic or heart attack. The users notified will know the type of medication and/or care the user needs.
How we built it
We used:
- Flutter UI interop with Dart --> Responsible for the UI and most of the important coding functions
- Google Firebase --> Collect client information such as their name, DOB, phone-number and medical conditions / prescribed medicine
- Google Maps --> GPS tracking to locate where the HELP signal is coming from
Challenges we ran into
- Finding a database
- Trying to combine JavaScript and Dart coding languages
- Thinking about a good color scheme
- Trying to transfer Flutter onto an android within 36 hours (Google Play takes too long)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
When users register for the first time on our app, they connect to a Firebase Database that contains their name and password. Moreover, when they open the app again they aren't prompted to log on over and over.
We are also proud that we created an app using Flutter (Dart), which is a new programming language to all of us.
What we learned
- Flutter (Dart) and its many features
- Json, Typescript and React
- Firebase Database
- Google Maps API
What's next for ADER
- The next goal for ADER is to detect the location of other users and to distribute the app by putting it on applications like the "Play Store".
Built With
- api
- c
