Inspiration

Creating effective video advertisements is still a slow and expensive process. High-quality ads usually require creative agencies, multiple revisions, and deep marketing expertise. This makes professional advertising inaccessible for many founders, marketers, and small teams. The inspiration behind AdDirector AI was to explore whether Gemini 3 could move beyond simple content generation and instead act as a creative decision-maker, similar to a real advertising creative director.

What it does

AdDirector AI transforms a product description and images into a complete video advertising strategy. The application generates a professional creative brief including: -A clear advertising goal and target audience -A core creative concept and emotional hook -A 15–30 second voiceover script -A detailed, scene-by-scene storyboard with visual and camera direction Rather than generating isolated text, the system produces a structured, agency-style output that mirrors real-world advertising workflows.

How we built it

The project was built using Gemini 3 Flash Preview via Google AI Studio. Gemini 3’s multimodal reasoning is central to the application: it analyzes product images and descriptions, reasons about audience psychology and messaging, and plans the ad strategy before generating any content. The frontend provides a simple, public interface that allows users to interact directly with the model and experience the creative reasoning process in real time.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was designing prompts that encouraged strategic reasoning instead of generic text generation. This required careful structuring of instructions so Gemini 3 would plan before producing output. Through this project, I learned how powerful Gemini 3’s long-context reasoning and multimodal understanding can be when applied to real creative and commercial problems—not just conversational use cases.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

-Successfully built a new application that uses Gemini 3 Pro as a multimodal creative director, not just a text generator. -Designed a structured, agency-style creative workflow that turns products and images into complete video ad strategies. -Delivered a clean, public, interactive demo that clearly demonstrates real-world value in under three minutes.

What we learned

-Gemini 3’s multimodal and long-context reasoning enables strategic planning tasks, not just content generation. -Prompt structure and role definition are critical to guiding high-quality creative reasoning. -AI can meaningfully replicate professional creative workflows when reasoning is prioritized over speed or volume.

What's next for AdDirector AI

-Expand support for multiple ad formats and platforms (social, e-commerce, brand campaigns). -Add iterative feedback loops so users can refine creative direction with Gemini 3. -Explore integration with video generation and publishing tools to move from strategy to execution.
