Inspiration

Watching loved ones fight addiction showed me how lonely recovery can be—many struggle to track progress, manage triggers, or access support quickly. I wanted to build a private, intuitive tool that meets people where they are, no login, no judgment—just calm, actionable support rooted in real recovery needs.

What it does

It’s a mobile-first web tool that centralizes recovery essentials: track sober days (and savings from sobriety), log triggers + coping strategies, connect to sponsors/helplines, and access professional help resources—all with a calm, glassmorphic UI that feels safe and supportive.

How we built it

I started with core user needs (anonymity, ease of use, emotional safety) and designed a responsive grid layout. Used HTML/CSS for the glassmorphism cards and animated gradients, JavaScript for sobriety calculations/localStorage persistence, and SVG for subtle ambient animations—all built to respect accessibility (e.g., prefers-reduced-motion).

Challenges we ran into

Balancing animation (for warmth) with accessibility was tough—had to ensure all motion could be disabled. Also, making localStorage work seamlessly across private/incognito modes (falling back to session-only data) without confusing users took trial-and-error.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating a tool that’s 100% anonymous (no accounts) yet persistent, with animations that feel supportive (not overwhelming) and a crisis helpline flow that’s fast, clear, and comforting. Seeing the responsive design work flawlessly across mobile/desktop felt like winning.

What we learned

I deepened my understanding of accessible animation, local data persistence, and user-centered design for sensitive mental health tools. Most importantly: recovery tools need to prioritize safety and simplicity over complexity—less is more when someone’s in crisis.

What's next for this project

I want to add offline functionality for low-internet areas, expand crisis resources to include regional European helplines, and refine the health improvement tracker with evidence-based recovery milestones. No plans for accounts—anonymity will always be core.
