Inspiration

I am a youth organizer in a local grassroots organization based in Phoenix that primarily focuses on migrant justice. Even growing up as a first-generation latine youth, I have seen firsthand the cruel injustices towards undocumented folk in my state. I finally decided to take action.

What it does

This multipage website provides resources to undocumented folk and their families, and general political education for others about Arizona's historic treatment of migrants.

How we built it

I built this page using HTML, CSS and Javascript. I have never used Qoom before, but It was a great learning experience, and also used canva and google fonts API's to further customize my site.

Challenges we ran into

Some challenges I ran into consisted of div tags, footer css, and implementing a popup for my index/home page.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Most of what is seen is very new to me- I stepped out of my comfort zone and learned new css aspects, new java, how to create a footer, div tags, and how to create a basic pop-up.

What we learned

As mentioned above, most of this was very new to me. I also learned greatly from the workshops throughout the weekend and am very eager to review them to continue my journey.

What's next for Activist - Migrant Rights are Human Rights

I would love to continue working on this project and continue practicing and testing my skills. I would like to develop this into a full site one day that can provide and hopefully help people. Another aspect I would love to implement is translations, especially Spanish first, but other languages over time. I would also like to implement a ASL translation page as well and various other accessibility features.
