Inspiration

Activate Academics was inspired by the growing need for personalized, AI-powered learning tools that can assist students in their studies. We recognized that many students struggle with understanding complex materials, summarizing lengthy texts, and creating effective study aids. Our goal was to create a versatile, user-friendly platform that leverages the power of AI to enhance the learning experience.

What it does

Activate Academics is an AI-powered learning companion that offers four main features: Study Assistant: Allows students to ask questions about their study material and receive accurate answers. Summary Generator: Creates concise summaries of lengthy texts or PDF documents. Quiz Creator: Automatically generates multiple-choice quizzes based on provided study material. Concept Explainer: Provides simple explanations for complex concepts. The app also maintains a study history, allowing students to track their learning progress and download their study sessions for future reference.

How we built it

We built Activate Academics using: Streamlit for the web application framework Hugging Face's Transformers library for various NLP tasks SentenceTransformers for text processing PDFPlumber for handling PDF uploads Python for backend logic

We utilized pre-trained models for specific tasks:

RoBERTa for question-answering BART for text summarization FLAN-T5 for concept explanation Mistral for text generation
