Inspiration

Our inspiration is my time spent in social impact organizations and seeing how the work of organizers so greatly affect the lives of everyone in our city by expanding access to social programs and we wanted to give them a hand. We see organizers as the caring, nurturing caretakers of our community and want to help them delegate responsibilities. As someone that has worked in the advocacy space for the past 4 years, organizers including me are constantly trying to integrate help from more community members and this provides them with a resource to do just that.

Productivity app that helps community members complete project tasks

How we built it

We're very beginner designers using Figma for the 1st time, using paper wireframes and Yelling at each other :)

Challenges we ran into

Multiple brainstorm sessions and multiple product ideas that didnt make sense.

Problem Statement

Isabella is a local plant shop owner that cares deeply about social issues and wants to help her community but is having difficulty finding the time.

What is the problem you are seeking to solve? Community organizers are at capacity with their own work. With Activacy, anyone can become a community organizer for 5 minutes a day. This app creates a solution for community members as well as organizers to integrate social change and building social programs into their daily lives. Activacy allows for large projects to be chunked into tasks that take no more than 5-10 minutes a day so even the busiest organizer, entrepreneur or community member can work in social good into their day.

Who does it affect?

Community organizers building better communities of care and the members of that community that benefit from the social programs built collectively.

What are the existing solutions & What do these solutions do well, and where do they fall short?

There are apps that offer the opportunity to be more sustainable, call out industries for not being eco-conscious but don’t encompass or touch on most if not all social change related problems. They are also not well marketed or easily accessible either.

Activacy aims to help the end user organize or be a part of existing movements that encourage social change within THEIR CITY & provides opportunities to network with people that are just as passionate or more about the social changes that the user chooses to tackle.

What are the main features this product offers?

A progress bar that summarizes how close the end user is to finishing a challenge.

A customization prompt that includes 3 social issues the user selects after the sign in screen.

Challenges they can search and choose from based on a search filter that uses location, causes and organizations.

A page that shows you what tasks need to be completed per challenge, chunking the project into daily activities that take no more than 5-10 minutes.

The ability to add existing/new members to Activacy to collaborate in groups that will engage in finishing the challenge. Group chat for the users to communicate their progress.
